Clay has always been one of portuguese most typical materials to express their creative vein.
The well known “that unique blue” tiles as well as the world famous ceramic portuguese works, are good examples.
But Portugal is not just about tiles and one of my favorite handmade ceramic artists is Maria Castel-Branco.
Her work is timeless and trendless and each piece is unique and shaped with the beautiful imperfections of handmade art.
At her studio she creates all sorts of ceramic, pottery and decor objects, like these wonderful love soldiers perfect to march back home with you.
You can find some of her work at her calm and inspiring workshop in Alcântara, near LX Factory.
